Change of Heart on Strictly Container Rails for new Open Span Arch Shelters
We developed the Twist Lock Container Rails for a few reasons ...

We developed the Twist Lock Container Rails for a few reasons ...
- To protect the value of the containers (some like the convenience of renting, but the renters and resellers don't like damaged containers)
- To help speed up the construction and dismantling of a shelter (all welding is done at the factory, none on site)
- To prevent the need of a welder on-site
So we are modifying our brochures and price lists accordingly. This means that - Archie, Elipse and Reno Canopies now have the following options:
- Roof Span Footings (RSP) for Beams, Poles and Posts - (Beam footings can be welded directly to containers)
- Tri-Frame Footings - where practical all canopy models can be fixed to a Tri-Frame for free standing purposes
- Container Tri-Frames purchasers will have the options of welding/bolting directly to containers or using Double Twist Lock Container Rails
- Ground Shelter Tri-Frames purchasers currently have the option of footings for concrete ballast (above or below ground) for semi permanent uses. Star Picket Stake footings (yet to be engineered and not yet available) will be available for strictly Marquee Unit Shelters (i.e. they are strictly temporary and used like a Tent Marquee) or combined with minimum concrete ballast in light weather regions.
Why Rockhampton for manufacturing? Featured
Rockhampton is not as out of the way as you might think ...
I was asked why we chose to manufacture our Clear Span range in Rockhampton.
A number of reasons, but mainly because we found a good fabricator there ... recommended by other successful locals and interested to partner with Splash in the longer term. A close second reason was because the majority of Splash business is actually in this part of the world. Thirdly because I gambled that the cheaper freight and production costs would allow a better price for a better product, and there are good freight routes via the top to the West.
Closer to the West
Particularly with what is happening in WA & NT - so many new mines and expansive growth throughout the State, there is a shortage of suppliers to service the area - and the rest of Australia is such a long, long way away ...
Fabrication is cheaper this way, lesser over heads and a willing work force that have taken the sea change out of the big cities. Onslow is virtually on the same latitude as Rockhampton, but a darned sight warmer so a tougher climate to set up a manufacturing shop.
Freight Not As Expensive As You Would Imagine Via The Top
Freight is not as expensive as you would imagine from Rocky - we can send most shipments South via a backload at cost far less than bringing up - there are also good freight runs now over to Darwin which connect to the local run down to Perth - right through some of our biggest locality buyers - Karratha, Port Hedland to Onslow.
There is actually a series of roads that cut almost directly across between Rockhampton and Onslow via Alice - but unfortunately not suitable for freight - well at least not yet.
Definitely time to start looking into Air Ships for Australia I think, but for now, we can get a shipment to anywhere from Rockhampton at a price on par with the cities.
Our Steel Fabricators are keen to pick up any additional work across that way too.
Worried about the cost of sending from Rocky? Don't! Freight will be charged ex-Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.
